Glutathione is a tripeptide (gamma-Glu-Cys-Gly in its reduced form, often abbreviated GSH) defined by an unusual gamma peptide bond between the gamma carboxyl of glutamate and the amino group of cysteine. It is found in essentially every cell and is the body's principal small molecule thiol antioxidant. It is widely used as a research and supplement compound.
